 Biedouw 4x4 Trail

Over the long weekend of 9 - 12 August 2018 Mertenhof Guest Farm was invaded by 13 crazy and excited members of 4x4 Cape Club.

What an eventful weekend - - great company around the campfire into the icy cold nights under amazing starry nights, braai, potjie, laughter, etc.

On Friday we infiltrated Wuppertal and took a scenic drive home via Heuningvlei.
On Saturday morning it was game on! Three vehicles with 9 people conquered Biedouw 4x4 trail with Lindsay Dean Polley leading, Ashley Ruiters acting as tail gunner and hubby Conrad Schutte and I being the filling on the sandwich. Wow! What an awesome trail with a few steep, rocky ascends on some narrow stretches, to stretches over rocky planes on top of the mountain. Lindsay entertained us with a display of choosing every highest rock to go over! You go Lindsay! After crossing the main road we continued up a fairly nerve-racking very steep and narrow rocky slope. On top of the other mountain we reaped the reward of breathtaking views of the valley and stretches of awesome flowers! Wow! What an experience to be totally surrounded by God's creation.

After another "kuier" night around the campfire, it was packing up camp on Sunday, before we took another stunning route home over more rocky mountain passes, through river crossings, past Eselbank and other small communities.
Cameron's trailor-top tent came loose on the road, but mr handyman Danie made a plan with tie down straps. And....... on the very last stretch Ashleigh encountered trouble with his power steering, but after some TLC the Amarok behaved itself till Ashley could get some power steering juice at the garage.
Sadly we said goodbuy just before Citrusdal and everyone headed home, all to arrive home safely around 18:00.
Again............What an awesome weekend and unforgettable memories!
